Individuals who are chosen to participate in our residential program are provided with low cost housing for a period of 6 - 18 months as they participate in programming designed to help them resolve their troubled pasts and concentrate on developing skills that will enable them to be independent in the future.
The intensive residential program is comprised of the following 7 main components:
The Executive Director and each resident meet weekly one - on - one to discuss the resident's individualized long and short term goals as well as the plan of action necessary to complete those goals. Life Skills Education, Financial Management, and Qualifying Time requirements are also co-ordinated during Case Management.
Residents meet on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 7 - 8:30 pm with the Program Director to take part in Group Classes. All group classes are taught from a Biblical perspective. We cover a variety of topics in our Group Classes.
Each resident is expected to follow the House Guidelines that have been established. These House Guidelines help to provide a consistent set of standards for the residents and their children in order to promote peace, conflict resolution, discipline, order, and structure in a home that can at times contain up to five different families.
Each resident is expected to complete 40 hours of Qualifying Time each week. This is usually full time employment, but it can also include education or volunteering.
Each resident is expected to live on a budget during the entire time they are residing here. Income and Expenses are tracked on a weekly basis and are turned in to the Case Manager for her assistance in evaluating them. Our goal is that each family will leave Rainbow Haven with at least six months of experience living on a balanced budget.
Each resident is expected to attend the church of their choice at least one service per week. The best way to rebuild or increase a resident's support system is through their regular participation in a caring local church.
Each resident is expected to attend one counseling session each week with either the Executive Director or the Program Director. These sessions will offer guidance in working through issues that may be causing the failures to make lasting changes.
Each resident is expected to pay $20 / week for rent regardless of whether they have a job or not. Once an income is established residents are expected to save 20% of their net pay into a "move - out savings account."
